This summer I went to China for 3 weeks. I spent the first two weeks teaching English to adults in Maoming. I found it really rewarding to see my students’ English and confidence improve towards the end of the programme. However, the experience also allowed me to develop. I had very limited teaching experience and I had never been in charge of a large group of people before. Teaching in China taught me a lot about myself and the career I want to go into. Whilst here I also found the culture very different – especially the food- but in a good way!
On the third week of my trip I was taken on a tour of Guilin. I visited a mud spa and experienced mountain climbing and rafting on bamboo boats! My favourite experience was when we climbed a mountain. It was in the middle of nowhere but we were able to see some stunning views. The best bit was coming down- they had a giant slide for you to use to get the bottom! It was a fantastic experience and I have made some friends for life. I would definitely recommend looking into things like this.
